Padding Available

Some dogs have a thin hair coat or very sensitive skin. (My Wire Fox Terrier has allergies and lost all the hair in his arm pits from scratching himself so I understand how hair loss may cause skin problems.) Hair loss may cause the dog to have chaffing or rubbing from the webbing behind their front legs. If your dog has hair loss or their skin becomes red or sore, you may purchase padding to help alleviate this problem. If your dog has allergies to metal, you may find a pad under the rings or the triangles is all you need to stop this allergic reaction.

If you find the straps are rubbing double check that the straps are not too loose. You want the harness to be fit as snug as a saddle on a horse. It should not slip and slide around when you give a tug on your leash other that the chest strap gaping a bit.

However, if you find padding is needed, we can  make padding for the girth area or the chest area. If you wish to order a pad, we need to know which size Wonder Walker™ Body Halter© your dog wears. The Velcro and webbing straps are sized to fit the width of the webbing in your harness.

Each girth pad attaches to a specific side. The webbing straps on the buckle side are wider to more easily allow you to slip the girth strap under them as you close the buckle. Most people find the girth padding is all that is needed to make their dog comfortable on walks.

We make the pads using the same neoprene material used to make wet suits for divers so you do not have to worry about them getting wet and unlike fabric pads will not hold water if it is raining while you are walking. Plus, they are easy to wash and dry very quickly.

This view shows you the nice smooth finish on the inside of the pads.
